Selphie Tilmitt
Game: Kingdom Hearts 2
Worn to: C3 meetup 07, Anime Iowa 07
Difficulty: 2/5
Around this time, Kingdom Hearts cosplay was very popular and when Effembee and I were looking for simple costumes to make for the annual C3 meetup, these costumes really stood out to us. I love Selphie and I put so much love into my Selphie wig, I wanted an excuse to wear it again.
Unfortunately, this project was NOT as stress-free as we imagined. Because we were unable to find a similar plaid pattern, we decided to paint the plaid onto our skirts ourselves. Although we had seen warnings from other Kairi and Selphie cosplayers about how much time this took, we did it anyway and spent nearly 10 horus painting 6 yards of blue broadcloth. The ties were also painted and attach to our store-bought shirts with safety pins. I made the shoes using the front of clown shoes as the toe and keds/slippers as the base. I covered the shoes in a really nice black denim and used craft foam to make a more stable bottom. In the end, the shoes were difficult to walk in but very comfortable and held up surprisingly well. Megan was very nice and made me Selphie's purse as a surprise!
Despite the unexpected work involved, these costumes turned out cute and served their purpose. It's one of my first cosplay memories with Effembee!
