Yukiho
Series: IDOLM@STER
Worn to: Katsucon 12, Anime Matsuri 12
Difficulty: 3/5
For my first Katsucon, I aspired to make the most of my first east coast experience by cosplaying with a group of east coast cosplayers. I joined a lovely group of girls via Facebook and we coordinated our materials online.
The top was made using pink confetti dot fabric from SYfabrics.com and pink cotton as a backing for stability, since the confetti dot was fairly sheer. I created the pattern using a Frankenstein of a couple of patterns I had lying around. After assembling the pink piece, I hand-sewed a piece of fishnet onto a tube of black mesh fabric, and hand-sewed the pink portion to that. Then with a lot of creative thinking (and more hand sewing) I sewed in some pink lining. The collar was made using white satin with interfacing and the buttons were all cast by IchigoKitty. The belt was purchased and painted.
The collar was the result of trial and error and closes in the front with Velcro. I found and painted the blue gem, as well as the bangle bracelets. All belt hardware was purchased at Strapworks.com, which his a great resource for metal supplies.
The skirt is a simple silver casa circle skirt with a cotton underskirt sewn into the waistband. The thigh highs are a pair of opaque black thigh highs with an overlay of fishnet. The garters are hand sewn onto the thigh highs for stability. The arm warmers are simple tubes made of stretch fabric.
The boots were a group project and were made using a shared pattern. We built our covers around a white boot base and stuck stick-on soles on the bottom of the boots for stability.
The wig was purchased from Cosworx.com and started off as a long, bang-less, dark blonde wig. I dyed the wig brown using sharpies and cut bangs into it, making sure to make them extra thick.
